For a New Zealand dairy AraCom has developed a software solution, which enables the surveillance and the control of 500 tankers. The exact location and route can be traced back and optimised with a continuous GPRS connection. Moreover, the milk’s quality and the current loading can be recalled any time. Short distances and short transport time are vital in food logistics. Whenever many tankers are underway the coordination of the truck journeys has to be centrally organised to ensure that the milk is collected from the farmers as quickly as possible and immediately brought to the dairy. The central controlling not only enables the coverage and analysis of all the important data, but also software updates for all lorries are easily implemented with few clicks via an all-automatic data transfer. In this way the milk can be freshly served even on the other side of the world.
